Meet Dr. Virts

While in dental school, Dr. Virts was competitively selected to participate in an intensive Clerkship in Pediatric Dentistry to care for children with treatment needs beyond the capabilities of most dental students.  He also served as both the President of his class and the student body, and he taught courses in dental ethics and clinical pediatric dentistry.  Dr. Virts maintains a connection to the University of Maryland by volunteering as a Dean’s Faculty member in the Division of Pediatric Dentistry at the School of Dentistry.

Dr. Virts has received numerous awards for ethical practice, clinical expertise, community service, professionalism, kindness, and leadership.  He believes that a continuing commitment to organized dentistry will provide his patients with exceptional care.   Dr. Virts is the President-Elect of the Maryland Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and will begin his full presidency in January of 2012.  He maintains an active membership with the American Dental Association, the Maryland State Dental Association, and the Frederick County Dental Society.  Dr. Virts is also an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Society for Dental Ethics.  He is a consulting specialist to the Johns Hopkins Orofacial (Cleft Lip and Palate) Clinic and a consulting dentist to the Frederick County Public School system.  Dr. Virts is Board Certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. 

In his spare time, Dr. Virts enjoys fishing, boating, performing music with Baltimore-based rock band “InciDENTAL,” and spending time with his family.  He has been married to his wife, Kristen, for 4 years, and they have a young son, Jackson, born in May 2011.
